Chloe shares all about her recent trips to Jersey and Guernsey

We recently caught up with Chloe, a member of our Product Team. Chloe loves to step away from her desk and fully immerse herself in Roberts Holidays by experiencing our trips first-hand. This allows her to gain vital insights into what works well and how we can continually improve our itineraries. Additionally, she guides our customers on the tours she attends, ensuring they have a brilliantly smooth holiday with us.

Chloe has been fortunate to go on two trips so far in her role. We asked her six questions to see how she got on—read on to find out what Chloe had to say!

Where did you go and how long for?

I have been lucky enough to travel on two of our trips so far, the first being Jersey by air – it was for 6 days in June & the other being Guernsey by Air – for 5 days in April.

What was the best excursion on your trip?

Jersey – The best excursion for this one was the War Tunnels, it was an eerie yet enlightening experience as you walk through the history of the German Occupation and learning so much more of our past. Tip: I would definitely recommend wearing a coat as it gets cold down there!

Guernsey – The best excursion for Guernsey was the day trip over to Herm Island, the stunning views, beaches and beautiful sea really was like you were the Caribbean. If you like walking then this would be perfect for you! However it isn’t all on foot as another highlight was simply sitting in the pub with a drink and eating the delicious food on offer.

What was the highlight of your trip?

The highlight of both trips would be the guided tour by coach from a local coach driver. In Guernsey we had a lovely chap called Peter who was a born and bred Guernsey man, his love and knowledge of the island really showed as we travel around the island discovering all the history it holds. In Jersey we had an expat Trevor, who moved to Jersey from Yorkshire over 40 years ago after falling in love with the Island on a European tour. His knowledge for the island was top tier and he was very amusing and had us all laughing throughout the tour.

What would be your top tip for people visiting Jersey & Guernsey?

My top tip for visiting both islands is to call each island "the other island." This running joke stems from the friendly rivalry between the two, and you'll often hear locals refer to the opposite island this way.

But in all seriousness, my top tip for Jersey is to try the Jersey ice cream—one word: delicious!!

Would you go back?

110% would go back to both islands, they are so different to each other but both are extremely picturesque in their own ways.

What’s next on your bucket list?

The next on my bucket list is defiantly a visit to Scotland, I have always wanted to go. In particular the Kelpies, Lochs & Glens tour we have, the itinerary looks very enjoyable! Visiting so many places during the week, including Edinburgh, somewhere I have always wanted to visit! And to top it off there is a Sheepdog show, as a dog lover this is right up my street!
